The Bellamy Brothers’ Biggest Hit Came From Neil Diamond’s Roadie

“Let Your Love Flow” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976 for David and Howard Bellamy. The song came from Larry E. Williams, who had worked on Neil Diamond’s road crew. David already had a hit of his own by then as a writer: he co-wrote “Spiders & Snakes,” a top five record for Jim Stafford in 1974.

The brothers grew up on the family ranch near Darby, in Pasco County, playing at local gatherings, fairs and rodeos. They still live on it, about 200 acres, fifty years after the first hit.

Still Touring

They followed with a long run of country number ones, including “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me,” and they were still on the road in 2026, with a June date at the Ryman Auditorium.
