Deion Sanders and the Day He Played Baseball, Ran a Relay and Played Baseball Again

On May 16, 1987, at the Metro Conference championships in Columbia, South Carolina, Deion Sanders played in Florida State’s baseball semifinal in the afternoon, ran the second leg of the 4×100 relay that evening, and went back to the ballpark for the baseball final, which Florida State won.

Fort Myers

Sanders grew up in Fort Myers and played at North Fort Myers High School. At Florida State, where he picked up the name Prime Time, he was a cornerback in football, an outfielder in baseball and a sprinter in track.

Two Leagues

As a pro he played cornerback in the NFL and outfield in Major League Baseball, some years both. He is the only person to have played in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. He went into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
